This is America´s major dance festival hosted at Duke University in North Carolina. The festival happens in the summer with workshops and masterclasses being held throughout the festival. There are also performance opporunities for young dance makers with the opportunity to have coaching by various esteemed choreographers. The festival can not compete with the prestige of Impulstanz due to insufficient funding and a very conservative program with very few contemporary choreographers being featured. This festival is deeply embedded in the American tradition of dance with modern dance companies such as Pilobolus and Paul Taylor as featured regulars. Despite the disappointing performances, it is a good place for dance training with some of the best teachers working in NY coming to lead classes.
