BONBON HAS CLOSED - APRIL 2009.
Bonbon is a very fun club. Not at all nice, but fun. The deal here is that you pay between ¥80-120 to enter (less for women), depending on the day or the event, and then it’s an open bar all night long. It’s not as impressive as it sounds since your options are limited to some strange beer and a few standard mix drinks containing what is most likely very low quality alcohol. But it still gets you drunk. And that’s the main allure of the place – drunken revelry in what is quite an impressive venue in terms of size, decor, and the quality of the DJs. Bonbon has played host to big names such as Goldie, Paul Oakenfold and Felix da Housecat in the past. Regular floor shows involving dancing competitions for women, etc, are mildly entertaining. Some annoying features about Bonbon – the bartenders are pedantic about presenting your empty glass/bottle to get a refill as if there’s some way you could have gotten inside without paying, and they will make you pay for water or even soft drink (even though they’re using it in the mixed drinks) if you want a break from alcohol. Also, the club can be unbearably crowded at times. In spite of some flaws, Bonbon can be a very fun club if you’re in the right mood. Turn up when you’re already drunk to improve your chances of having a good time.
