Cloudland Youth Hostel was much lauded by Lonely Planet when it opened in 2005 and it is a pretty good hostel, though it doesn’t quite match up to the Hump Hostel. On the positive side, the rooms at Cloudland are brighter and nicer and the facilities including pool and ping pong tables, free wireless internet, cafe and bar and rooftop terrace are also of a high level. But the location, while not too far from the action, isn’t as good and some of the staff struggle with English. Dorm beds start at ¥30 while private rooms with ensuite start at ¥100. The shared bathrooms can get a bit grotty.
