To get trully authentic music experience you should visit GEZ-21 (Galereya eksperimental'nogo Zvuka - 21/Gallery of Experimental sound - 21). It is one of the few underground places opened in the 90s that has survived in the new hipster era.

GEZ-21 hosts non-mainstream music concerts duing the weekends, with music styles raging from noise to free-jazz, ethno and post-rock. The concert space is a tiny room with neither windows nor air-conditioniner.

At the entrance to the concert space there is also a cafe where you can meet really intresting&weird types, listen to smart talks and get a super cheap coffee or beer, However, some might find this atmosphere too decadant or even depressing.
