Mårten Spångberg (°1968), lives and works in Berlin as essayist, performance critic, dramaturg and choreographer. After studies in Music, Dance and Theatre Science at the Universities of Uppsala and Stockholm, he started writing as a opera and dance critic for daily newspapers, such as Aftonbladet (1991-93) and Dagens Nyheter (1993-97). Besides he published in several magazines such as ArtGenda Magazine, Art Press, A-Prior, Danstidningen, Endurance Magazine, Fraksija, Material, Merge, MusikDramatik, and Visslingar och Rop, was Nordic correspondent for Ballet International (1993-2001), contributed to books, and wrote catalogue texts for among others Bayerische Staatsballet, Holland Festival, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Cullberg Ballet, Jerôme Bel, Thomas Lehmen and Tino Sehgal.

He is guest professor at the University of Giessen, Dept. of Applied Theatre Studies, and associate teacher of dramaturgy at dance school P.A.R.T.S, Brussels. As curator, he initiated the Panacea Festivals in Stockholm (1996-2001) and co-curated the Body Currency, Wiener Festwochen (1998), Read My Lips, Oslo (1997), the fourth International Summer Academy, Frankfurt (2002), and CAPITALS Acarte, Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, (2002-2003).

His collaborations as performer include the collective Fame Internationale, BDC and Tom Plischke, Xavier Le Roy, Bak-truppen, and Alice Chauchat. He did dramaturgical work for Ina C. Johannessen, I. Bjornsgaard, Angela Guerreiro, Dennis O’Connor, Lilia Mestre/Mette Edvardsen, and Christine de Smedt/Les Ballets C de la B. His own performance projects are internationally presented: Avantgarde (1999), Recent Works (2000), Plosion (2001), i.e. All All Over Over All All et.al. (2002), Artists’ talk (2002). In 2001 he choreographed on commission Break, Intermission, Before and After for Ballett Frankfurt.

Julian Barnett is a New York based choreographer, teacher, and performer. Seeking to define his innate curiosity of undiscovered physical art, Julian began choreographing in 2005 and has since shared his interpretations internationally.

Known for his highly physical and original works, Julian received a sold-out premiere season at New York's Joyce SoHo Theater in 2006. His first duet (FLOAT) originally premiered at the introductory La Mama Moves Festival and was then invited into the repertory of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street II and performed by The Juilliard School. He has received commissions from Danspace Project (SOUND MEMORY), SUNY Purchase (ECHOLOGUE), Duo Multicultural Arts Center (PIANO ROOM), Dance New Amsterdam (ORIGIN) and has been presented by Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Movement Research, PS 122, Dance Theater Workshop, Symphony Space, Joyce SoHo, Joe's Pub at the Public Theater and internationally in China, Germany, Canada, Austria, and Mexico.

As a teacher, Barnett seeks to push through physical and psychological boundaries to reach authenticity and full potential. He has taught master classes at numerous universities and international conservatories and has been a guest artist at the Kassel State Theater (Germany), Dance New Amsterdam, as well as both the Florida, West Virginia and Bates Dance Festivals.

Born on an US Air Force base in Tokyo, Japan and transplanted to his native California, Julian spent his childhood studying maps, playing the guitar and breakdancing. Inspired to articulate his body through performance, he found a mentor in Jean Marie-Martz at the Idyllwild Arts Academy, who taught him how to move with ballet shoes on. Continuing exploration at the Joffrey Ballet and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Julian went on to begin influential collaborations with Wally Cardona, Larry Keigwin and Johannes Wieland, where he danced alongside Pina Bausch Tanztheater. Other key artists Julian has worked with include: Lar Lubovitch, Eun Me Ahn, Doug Elkins, Kevin Wynn, Shapiro and Smith, and Doug Varone with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet.
