A great, little bar with an avant-garde atmosphere, Live Bar is a must visit place for anyone with an interest in music. Located north of the Huangpu River from Pudong, there aren’t a lot of other reasons to venture out to this area. But the distant location helps them keep the prices low: bottled beer starts at just ¥10 while spirits and mixed drinks are priced from ¥20. And Live Bar is definitely worth the trek. Through both its bare-bones, basic, concrete design and through the eclectic mix of local acts that play there, Live Bar achieves a sense of real underground authenticity and vitality. With the ceiling 9 meters above and the box-like form of the venue, it almost feels like listening to music in an abandoned warehouse. And the palpable sense of community among the aspiring artists and the friendly atmosphere the staff create makes it all the more enjoyable.
