After being closed for most of 2008, Maggie's has reopened. An infamous spot in the Beijing club scene, Maggie’s has been around since 1993, in numerous locations in the city. Its female clientele have been around a lot as well. Not to mince words, Maggie’s is most renowned as a place to pick up prostitutes, generally good-looking ones compared to some other such bars around town. If that’s your thing, then this is the place for you. If not, it might still be worth a very brief look for people-watching purposes. Drinks are a little pricey with bottled Tsing Tao the cheapest drink at ¥30. DJs play fairly mainstream dance and R&B tunes to help the revelers on the small dance floor get acquainted. There’s also a pool table and not a lot of room to move, with the bar taking up a big chunk of the space outside the dance floor. If you choose not to enter you might want to sample one of the hot dogs from the stand just outside the entrance. They’re pretty good.
