A solid, quality hotel which boasts a wonderful location just off the Wangfujing shopping street as its best feature. The North Garden Hotel is suitable for tourists as well as business travelers, with hotel facilities including a business center, a cable for free internet access in every room and a large ballroom (holding 200 people) as well as four smaller meeting rooms (holding 20 people) for functions or conferences. Other facilities include both a western and Chinese restaurant, a sauna, fitness center and a currency exchange service. Most staff speak only a basic level of English – enough to cover the essentials. But there should be someone around with a slightly higher level of English who can eventually comprehend more complex enquiries. Rooms are spacious, well-appointed and feature desks and some foreign-language channels, though carpet stains and stained bathroom tiles are unbefitting of a hotel in this price range. Standard rooms cost ¥800 ($116), deluxe rooms are ¥1000 ($146) and business rooms are ¥1200 ($175). The difference is basically the size of the room. The North Garden Hotel might not be the best value hotel in this category, or have the best service, but it’s definitely worth considering for its location alone.
