This is one of Europe's most notable companies, celebrating 27 years and running. De Keersmaeker established her company in the 80's when the artisitc climate in Europe was ripe for ingenuity and change. She brought with her influences from the NY post-modern dance movement, which is ever present in her works today. Somewhat of a traditionalist, De Keersmaeker has not moved much past her exquisite movement phrasing which is often accompanied by musical masterpieces. But her strong convictions in the poetry created by the body in motion have given rise to such master works as "Raga for a Rainy Season" and " D’un soir un jour". De Keermaekers's influence on contemporary dance is monumental as her company tours extensively and the school for contemporary dance PARTS, now Europe's leading school for dance training, was initiated by her.
