There are three bands named Ruins. One is a tight, calculated bass-&-drum duo that formed in Tokyo, Kantô, Japan, in 1985. They are usually pigeonholed into the category of prog rock. Like the often referenced Boredoms, though, they are difficult to accurately describe. The only constant member of Ruins is the drummer/vocalist Yoshida Tatsuya (吉田達也), who has cycled through four different bassists since the band's inception.
