Housed in a beautifully maintained two-storey mansion that once belonged to the influential Soong family, and boasting what must be the nicest beer garden in Shanghai, Sasha’s is an essential restaurant to visit for the ambience alone. The food isn’t bad either. While there’s nothing particularly original on the menu, the meals are good quality. Main courses range from ¥80 for fish and chips up to ¥130 for sirloin steak while starters are around ¥45. Carlsberg and Stella Artois are on tap for ¥40 while cocktails start at ¥60. The weekday happy hour from 5pm-7pm makes all drinks half price. The second floor of the mansion houses Prime restaurant, intended to cater to lovers of steak. With its serene setting in the French Concession and solid service, Sasha’s is well worth a visit even if it’s only for a drink in the garden.
