With the same owners as the very popular Rickshaw, there was a lot of hype around the opening of the Saddle Cantina in mid-2008. The Mexican restaurant and bar is housed in a great building, with a breezy interior and a lovely roof-top terrace making it perfect for the summer months. But otherwise there are few improvements on the Rickshaw even though the prices are much higher. The draught home brew beer sells for ¥35, ice cold Stella and Hoegaarden are on tap for ¥40 and ¥70 respectively (per 500mL) and alcohol-heavy margaritas are ¥55. The Mexican menu has meals averaging ¥55 and portions are massive, though the actual taste is lacking. Service is very ordinary – staff seem to prefer walking around saying “fuck your mother, fuck your father” to themselves while giggling, rather than taking orders. Worth checking out for the terrace.
