William Seward Burroughs II was an American writer who became a cult figure later in his life. He is widely known for introducing cut up technique in his writing, cutting and pasting pieces of text and creating novels this way. He was also hugely influential in the music scene, collaborating with such bands as Rolling Stones and Psychic TV. Burroughs was also friends with many writers from the Beat movements.
